New york opened the ball of festivities in fashion, with a fashion week celebrated in a joyous and relaxed atmosphere, despite the political and societal tensions currently under trump’s policy. that's one of the head designers, ralph lauren, celebrated the 50th anniversary of his brand with magnificence in the heart of central park, with a fashion show and dinner surrounded by celebrities.it was also the 70th anniversary of longchamp. the french brand presented their very first show with an incredible view over all of manhattan and their two muses, kate moss and kendall jenner reunited in the front row.besides anniversaries, new york was also the location for many debuts; like wes gordon for carolina herrera, the founder came to support on the front row, or nicola glass for kate spade new york. these two brands offered a new, rejuvenated and attractive silhouette. the rebirth of escada for their 40th anniversary with a show in new york and the presentation of their artistic director, niall sloan, who arrived just a year ago.finally, ingo wilts, already in charge of men, also takes control of women’s ready to wear for hugo boss and presents a mixed collection surrounding pastel tones.also note the cinematographic setting of new silhouettes ready to face the outside world such as calvin klein by raf simons in the spirit of jaws, or that of coach, introducing romanticism at the heart of a mad max setting, whereas marc jacob’s silhouettes create a new elegance with xxl dimensions.respect for everyone and diversity is found at the heart of many themes. from pyer moss’ activism with a gospel choir in a location filled with history, to prabal gurung’s casting with models coming from 35 different countries, and rihanna’s debut show for her brand savage x fenty, intended for all morphologies. this garden of eden closed new york fashion week on a positive note.
