Artistic director: gabriele morattiatmosphere: a rock attitude in the golden rooms of the shangri-la hotelcollection: nineties grunge as a source of inspiration, reinterpreted in a collection that stays sexy and feminine and which casually mixes daytime and nighttime pieces. oversized checked shirts, uneven cuts, silk and lace nightdresses, sequined, a sequined jacket and ripped denim jeans, punctuated with metallic embroidery all make for strong pieces in the wardrobes of next summer…to note: the t-shirt with the face of donald trump superimposed on a baby swimming in troubled waters! fashion must serve to denounce or convey messages according to the designer. the label continues to each season to donate part of its profits to charity.interview with gabriele moratti:the mood of the collection, this one i think it’s very personal, because for many reasons in the past six months since the last collection, as a matter of fact the past year, i find myself not really in a good mood because of everything that’s going on in the world. for some reason this bought me back to when i was in high school, when you’re growing up you don’t know if you fit in or not, and you find yourself in your room listening to music. i think it’s a much more oversized silhouette and certain garments and in certain pieces we almost wanted to make sure that they didn’t fit right because that’s the whole idea of grunge, to not really be perfect. we used a lot of silk, a lot of brocade, so what we try to do is to use the codes of grunge but using very special and very particular materials. it’s a message of i really don’t like this person, basically, so while this is of course the cover of nirvana’s nevermind, i really liked the idea of putting his face on it because it’s really appropriate, he’s a big baby. i like to use humour to express how i feel and i think it’s cathartic in a way because it’s a different way to fight so i fight with my artistic expression, i fight with my humour and also we give 50% of the profits to charity, we try to fight underground and repair some of the damage that him and many others are already making. music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information).
