Artistic director: olivier rousteingcollection: an army ready to conquer, while proudly highlighting the french savoir-faire, as well as a certain parisian spirit.a silhouette composed of long perfectos, fringed coats and jackets, and slim trousers zipped at the ankle.the designer explores a nautical theme, realised in black and white with a succession of striped t-shirts and suits.focus on: the spencer jackets trimmed with metal chains, or in tweed with black and white contrasting. also, the succession of leather jackets with tailcoats, or the jackets displaying western motifs.+ a game of lengths with baroque patterned tunics and gilets.+ tops with embroidered rhinestone pompoms.to note: the boots with metal tips.interview olivier rousteing:i wanted to go back to the sources to show that it’s not because we like the international, global and diverse aspect that ultimately, we are not french. i think that, for me, that’s what france is, what paris is. the beauty of france is known all over the world. the love of culture, of discovering other cultures, but at the same time, of not forgetting our roots.something very graphic, very strong, a bit "new-wave", because when i was listening indochine, or telephone, i really wanted to bring back this graphic aspect which they had in their music videos. it’s very inspired by french music videos. johnny hallyday’s last release, for me, was really moving because i was listening to it with my parents when i was little. so i think it was important for me to show that we can listen to rihanna, beyonce, kanye west, music that i’m absolutely in love with, but that we can also love serge gainsbourg.i was named artistic director at 24 and a half years old. so, basically 25 years old. i am 31 years old, and it has been practically 7 years since becoming artistic director of balmain. i grew up in the fashion limelight, which can be a very hard universe. but i have not lost faith, nor the hope of believing and making things happen. and today i think i am extremely proud to be one of the few french "designers" in a french house that can celebrate the colours of my country.music of the show (only to be used in the context of the show, protected by the right to information)
